I think this perfectly falls into the definition of technique. A method of building. Certainly it fall more into the definition than a simple connection; all too often LEGO builders (especially the types whom soley try to impress others) call the odd little connections that happen within a LEGO build, techniques. Certainly they can be such but Avalon, pictured here, shows an entire method of building with this technique.
It's well executed. It's attracive colours. It employs a nice shape. It's a novelty. Take heart Spacers and Train-heads, connectionless isn't about to usurp SNOT building.
Nice 'build' Seircon and Coral! Bravo, I enjoyed look at this probably as much as you had fun building it.

Pulling up my socks

I'm going to try to do this more often than I have in the past. I've heard rumblings through the underworld that people have heard of this 'Angry LEGO Nerd' in all four corners of the known universe. They don't know who he is but they've heard of it/him. I think that's pretty cool so I'm going to try to put the angry word out there. Expect me to blog some MOC's even though it's easy pickings right after Brickcon but it's also high season for leaks of new products to show up around the 'net. The really super opinionated 13(acting) year olds over at Eurobricks will make for some decent fodder too....I'm sure.

The tan and dark red used on this building makes it look like chocolate*. It's OK if your mouth waters a little....go on, have a taste**.


*Not really, brown would look a lot more like chocolate but my reaction word to lots of dark red used on something is usually "Yum!".

Batman - LEGO Super Heroes Minifigs - DC Comics

Sooooo....Bats gets four villains and two suits? Ist there any doubt where LEGO is putting their eggs? Superman gets Lex Luthor, Wonder Woman gets boots and the Avengers get to fight each other. I'm not really a superhero nerd but these have me pretty excited and it looks like a pretty strong line-up for the first year. DC gets a January release and the Marvel heroes get to come later in 2012 so it makes me wonder if we're looking at characters from the first two waves of sets.

The Hulk looks incredibly badass! I'm really glad they went with the oversized figure for him, a regular minifig just couldn't do it justice.

Of course with the unshown Green Lantern and the previously shown Batman, we're well on our way to getting the whole Justice League....the only one missing is Aquaman. Before you comic nerds jump down my neck about that comment, just take a moment and think.....OK....admit it; that's all you really need. :-P

There really isn't anything here to be critical of. It's really neat....build wise, I suppose. I don't like it. It's not something I would pay any attention to but the usual suspects really love this piece of, art. Disturbing can be fun sometimes but not this time. Check the groups it's in. Some of the builders out there are getting a little big in their britches methinks.

I need to get something off my chest.

It's not LEGO related but I just don't have the gumption to maintain two blogs so I'm just going to ignore my other blog.
This is a message to the entire world. Please, please, please, if you have somebody coming to look at your dishwasher on a certain day...make sure the fucking thing is empty. Not full and running. If a builder has scheduled me to be at your house at 9:00 am on a certain day, I will be there at 9:00 am and expect your dishwasher to be empty. The next time I arrive at some body's house and their dishwasher is halfway through a cycle, I'm fucking leaving. Period, point blank. I'm not being rebellion but I might go to a scrip club though.
Also, yeah, there's a really good chance that I'll need to get under your sink. The water doesn't magically get into your dishwasher so it might only be polite to have all your Kirkland garbage bags, various Mr. Clean bottles, the ashtrays that you only bring out when Granny comes over (even though you don't let her smoke in the house) and of course, that mother-fucking disgusting jar of sickening bacon grease that you only save because that same Granny taught your mom to do thus passing the habit on to you. If it's not empty, I'm just going to pull all that shit out and leave it all over your kitchen when I'm done. So there.

This diorama is called Midlin Forest and was built by Johan Warden. Sorry if I got either of those wrong, I had a bit of a hard time making out the words on the card.
It's really brooding and creepy and I don't really understand what's going on but I love it's vast emptiness. It makes me think of Ichabod Crane and the Legend of Sleepy Hollow and that gives me ideas. Thanks for the inspiration Johan!
